Age-specific sleep guide
Wake windows for a 7-month-old with 3 naps
At 7 months, some babies are comfortable with three naps while others are beginning the transition toward two.
A flexible 3-nap starting pattern
A practical starting pattern is roughly 2 hours 15 minutes before nap one, 2 hours 25 minutes before nap two, 2 hours 35 minutes before nap three, and around 2 hours 45 minutes before bedtime. These are planning estimates, not developmental requirements.
Example day starting at 7:00 AM
| Event | Approximate time |
|---|---|
| Wake | 7:00 AM |
| Nap 1 | 9:15 AM |
| Nap 2 | 12:40 PM, depending on nap 1 |
| Short nap 3 | 4:00 PM, depending on nap 2 |
| Bedtime | About 7:15-7:45 PM |
Signs the third nap may be fading
The third nap may become difficult, push bedtime very late, or alternate with two-nap days. Do not drop it because of age alone. Look at the whole pattern over several days.
Remember the limits
Wake windows are flexible planning estimates. Total sleep recommendations, safe-sleep practices, feeding needs, medical guidance, and your child's individual behavior take priority.
